Oman Plans Big Growth in Tourism by 2040
MUSCAT – A new video from the Oxford Business Group (OBG), made with Omran Group, shows how Oman is working to grow its tourism and hospitality sectors with smart investment, innovation, and eco-friendly ideas.
The video, called “Oman’s Tourism and Hospitality Sectors Undergo Transformative Growth,” says Oman wants to welcome 11 million tourists every year by 2040. To reach this goal, the country plans to invest around OMR 20 billion (about $51 billion) under its National Tourism Strategy 2040.
A major part of this plan is to grow the hospitality sector, which includes hotels and resorts. Oman’s National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) says this sector could grow by 6.3% every year until 2026.
The video also shows how Oman is offering many types of tourism, from luxury hotels to eco-lodges, and is following global environmental and social standards (ESG).
Oman’s long-term Vision 2040 includes protecting its culture and environment. One big project is Sustainable City Yiti in Muscat, worth $1 billion, which mixes green planning with tourism.
With beautiful landscapes and UNESCO World Heritage sites, Oman hopes to become a top travel spot in the region.
Dana Carmen Agarbicean, OBG’s director in Oman, said the country’s tourism success is because of strong teamwork between the government and private companies.
She said, “Oman’s tourism and hospitality industries are key to the country’s economic growth. They are growing fast because of smart investments and support for green, inclusive development.”
This video is part of Oxford Business Group’s report, The Report Oman 2025, which will give a detailed look at investment opportunities in the country. The report will also include an interview with Omran Group CEO Hashil bin Obaid Al Mahrouqi.
