Oil Tanker Association(OTCA)Threatens to Trigger Petrol Crisis

Oil Tankers Contractors Association (OTCA) has threatened to discontinue the supply of petroleum products across the country as a protest against Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) for awarding illegal loading contracts.

President Oil Tankers Contractors Association (OTCA); Abdullah Afridi, has claimed that 6 OMCs have illegally awarded commercial and bulk loading contracts of petroleum products to their preferred contractors.

While addressing a press conference, President Oil Tankers Contractors Association (OTCA) said; these OMCs are loading more than 300 tankers daily without observing the queue system under OGRA rules; which is directly affecting more than 15,000 registered tankers.

Cut off Petroleum Product: OTCA

He warned to cut off the supply of petroleum products and bring the country to a standstill in case the OMCs failed to transfer the load on the queue system as per OGRA regulations within the next 48 hours.

Oil Tankers Contractors Association (OTCA) has also called an emergency meeting of its General Body; today to decide the future course of action to register its disagreement with the OMCs.

Oil Tankers Contractors Association (OTCA’s) strike could result in an acute shortage of petroleum products across the country; with citizens fearing that it would engender a petrol crisis; similar to the one that was witnessed countrywide in June last year.
