15-Year-Old Owen Cooper Makes History at the Emmys

Los Angeles – History was made at this year’s star-studded Emmys on Sunday, as 15-year-old Owen Cooper became the youngest male actor ever to win an Emmy. Cooper, who made his acting debut earlier this year, plays 13-year-old Jamie Miller, a murder-accused teen, in Netflix’s gripping crime series Adolescence. He took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

Accepting the golden statuette, the England-born actor shared an inspiring message: “When I started drama classes a couple of years ago, I never imagined being in the United States, let alone here tonight.”

He added, “This proves that if you listen, focus, and step out of your comfort zone, anything is possible. Who cares if you get embarrassed?”

Adolescence itself was another big winner of the night, also earning the Emmy for Outstanding Anthology or Limited Series.
