WASHINGTON, DC – Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington to discuss ways to improve Pakistan-US relations. This was their first face-to-face meeting after earlier phone calls.
US officials welcomed Ishaq Dar at the State Department. Pakistan’s ambassador to the US, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, also joined the meeting, along with senior officials from both sides.
During the meeting, both leaders had detailed talks on trade, investment, technology, agriculture, minerals, counter-terrorism, and regional peace.
Dar praised former US President Donald Trump for his helpful role during past tensions between Pakistan and India. He also said that Pakistan is a good place for American businesses and investors, and highlighted the positive role of the Pakistani community in the US.
Marco Rubio appreciated Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and its positive role in promoting peace around the world.
Both leaders agreed to strengthen ties between the two countries and work together in areas like the economy, technology, and security. The meeting showed the strong partnership between Pakistan and the United States.
Later, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Dar said he had a productive meeting with Secretary Rubio and looked forward to more cooperation, especially in trade, investment, and global peace efforts.
