Accident in Lahore DHA: ATC gives police a five-day remand of the minor driver

Accident case in Lahore DHA

Afnan Shafqat, 17, was granted a five-day physical detention by an anti-terrorism court in Lahore on Saturday. The case concerns a fatal traffic accident that occurred in Lahore’s Defence Phase-VII, leaving five members of the same family dead.

At the following session, the court also requested a report on the incident’s inquiry.

The police informed the judge during today’s hearing that the first information report (FIR) now includes information about terrorism.

Physical remand should be granted, according to the police, so they may look into the accused.

The court questioned, “Did the judicial magistrate grant physical remand before this?”

According to the victim’s attorney, the investigating officer did not request remand from the court magistrate at this point.

He insisted that Afnan’s physical remand be granted to the police, claiming that they have yet to obtain any evidence from the accused.

Later, the teenager’s attorney stated that everyone has the right to a fair trial.

“We are saying that an unfortunate incident happened and we admit that the accident happened due to the negligence of the accused,” the attorney stated.

Afnan’s attorney informed the court that his client is only 17 years old and asked that the proper sections be included in the FIR.

He said, “The accused can be tried under the juvenile court.”

The News claims that earlier this week in Lahore’s DHA, teenage motorist Afnan got into a fight and threatened the victims before ramming their car.

For a considerable amount of time, the driver pursued the women seated in the car from Y Block. The victim’s automobile driver, Hasnain, accelerated his car several times in an attempt to get Afnan to stop pursuing, but the accused persisted in bothering the family.

Later on, though, Hasnain pulled over and chastised Afnan for his actions.

When Afnan was asked to cease pestering the women by Hasnain’s father, who was driving a different automobile, he struck the victim’s car at a speed of 160 km/h close to McDonald’s Chowk.

Hasnain’s automobile flew 70 feet from the road after the collision, and all of the occupants perished there. When the suspect saw that four people were angry, he fled the scene.

After the event, the youngster was placed under arrest, and sections of terrorism and murder were added to the FIR before the matter was turned over to Deputy Superintendent Kahna.

However, in an attempt to coerce the victims’ families into dropping the lawsuit, the teen’s family is using unscrupulous methods.

Following the incident one day prior, Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi issued an order launching a statewide campaign against underage driving.

Naqvi gave the capital city police officer in Lahore, the inspector general of Punjab police, and the regional police officers orders to take action against people who drive vehicles and motorcycles without a license.

“Underage drivers pose a risk not just to other people but also to themselves. While releasing the instructions, Naqvi argued that parents shouldn’t let their minor children use motor vehicles or motorcycles.
