Pakistan and Afghanistan Discuss Stronger Ties Amid Regional Security Concerns

ISLAMABAD – Pakistani and Afghan officials met recently to explore ways to strengthen bilateral relations, with a focus on improving people-to-people connections, boosting trade, and working together on shared security and economic challenges.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, including the ongoing security situation in Pakistan and Afghanistan. A detailed discussion was held regarding recent unrest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Barrister Saif emphasized that peace in Pakistan and Afghanistan is closely linked, calling for continuous dialogue and engagement to further solidify bilateral relations.

Ambassador Shakeeb assured that the Afghan government is committed to fully cooperating with Pakistan to maintain stability and peace in the region.

Jaffar Express Attack Mastermind Killed in Afghanistan

In a related development, Gul Rahman, the mastermind behind the Jaffar Express terrorist attack, was reportedly killed in Afghanistan, as reported on Saturday.

Also known as Ustad Mureed, Gul Rahman, an Indian-sponsored militant, died under mysterious circumstances in Helmand province on September 17, 2025.

Gul Rahman was the operational commander of the Indian proxy group Fitna al Hindustan (Majeed Brigade) and was involved in several terrorist attacks targeting Pakistani security forces, civilians, Chinese nationals, and various institutions.
