Pakistan Army Deployed Across Punjab to Support Flood Relief Efforts

Punjab – As floodwaters continue to rise across the province, the Pakistan Army has been called in to support district administrations in safeguarding lives and property. Troops are actively assisting in Lahore, Kasur, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Narowal, Okara, Sargodha, and Hafizabad.

The Punjab government, alongside the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Civil Defence, Rescue 1122, and local police, is working around the clock to conduct rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected areas. Over 9,000 Civil Defence volunteers have been deployed to provide aid, helping evacuate residents and their livestock to safer locations. Relief camps have also been set up to offer shelter and essential support to displaced communities.

Authorities are urging the public to cooperate with ongoing rescue efforts to ensure the safety of everyone in the affected regions.

The deployment comes after India released water from the River Ravi, raising water levels in Pakistani rivers and creating a potential flood threat. In response, the Punjab Home Department swiftly requested military assistance for immediate relief operations in seven key districts.

A spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department confirmed that army units are now supporting local administrations in managing the situation, alongside active teams from Civil Defence, Rescue 1122, and the police.
