Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been asked to pick up the unfinished discussions he started in the last days of his previous term as prime minister by the chairman of the Businessmen Group (BMG), Zubair Motiwala, and President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Iftikhar Ahmed Sheikh.
According to a statement issued by the KCCI on Tuesday, they said that even though every federal secretary assigned to the organization had agreed on a number of corrective actions for fostering a climate that is favorable for business, the majority of them had not yet been put into action.
The president of KCCI and chairman of BMG, in a letter to the PM Office, stated that majority of the concerns remained unresolved even after guarantees from federal secretaries at a meeting at the PNS Dockyard with PM Shehbaz during his previous term. However, they also noted that a number of other issues had surfaced over time, most notably the damaging effects of growing energy prices on SMEs and sectors, which called for the PM’s action.
They asked the premier to come to KCCI so that the business community may address any unresolved matters.
