PM Shehbaz, Chinese FM Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties and Regional Cooperation

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a high-level meeting on Thursday evening, focusing on regional security, counter-terrorism, and areas of mutual interest.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the all-weather strategic partnership between Pakistan and China and emphasized closer coordination at regional and international forums.

During the meeting, Wang Yi reiterated China’s steadfast support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and development. In response, Field Marshal Munir expressed gratitude for China’s consistent support over the years. The discussions concluded with a shared resolve to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

PM Shehbaz highlighted the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) for Pakistan’s socio-economic growth and its role in enhancing regional connectivity. He welcomed the continued progress of CPEC Phase-II and expressed deep appreciation for China’s support in safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and advancing national development.

The prime minister also reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering backing of China on its core issues and reiterated the country’s commitment to further deepen the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, as envisioned by the leadership and desired by the peoples of both nations.
