Pakistan Condemns Israeli Strikes on Qatar at UN Emergency Meeting
New York, September 12, 2025 – Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, has strongly condemned Israel’s recent attacks on Qatar, calling them “illegal, unprovoked, and reckless.” Speaking at an emergency meeting of the 15-member UN Council on the Middle East, Ambassador Ahmad emphasized the importance of protecting mediators working for peace and upholding international law and the UN Charter.
The meeting, held under South Korea’s presidency for September, was requested by Pakistan, Algeria, and Somalia. Ambassador Ahmad highlighted that the Israeli strikes targeted a residential area, deliberately endangering civilians—a serious violation of international humanitarian law.
“This brazen attack is part of a broader pattern of Israeli aggression that threatens regional stability,” he said. “Pakistan stands in full solidarity with the Government and people of Qatar and supports their right to defend their sovereignty and protect their citizens, in line with the UN Charter.”
The ambassador also rejected Israel’s attempt to draw false parallels with unrelated incidents in Pakistan, calling such comparisons “misleading and baseless.”
He further warned that Israel’s actions represent a systematic disregard for international law, citing past military operations in Gaza, repeated cross-border strikes in Syria, Lebanon, Iran, and Yemen. “These acts set a dangerous precedent, weaken the rule of law, and encourage a culture of impunity that threatens global security,” he added.
