Pakistan declares an Eid holiday lockdown on Saturday. It disrupts transport and tourist destinations, to avert an increase in Covid-19 cases during the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr.

Already dealing with the third wave of infections and growing deeply concerned about the situation in India, the government has enforced the most stringent restrictions after a one-month lockout in April last year.

Eid, which comes at the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramzan, normally marked by a large migration of people across the region, with tourist attractions packed with Pakistanis.
