Pakistan to Launch Electric Bike Scheme on August 14

The Government of Pakistan is planning to launch a new Electric Bike Scheme on August 14, which is Independence Day. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to officially start the program on that day.

What is the Electric Bike Scheme?
This scheme will help people buy electric bikes at a lower price. It is part of the government’s plan to:

Reduce the use of fuel-based transport

Support a clean and green future

How Will It Work?
The government has set aside Rs 9 billion in the new budget.

Each electric bike will come with a 65,000 subsidy (discount).

The rest of the cost can be paid in easy monthly installments through interest-free bank loans.

Who Can Apply?
People will have to apply online for the scheme.

If too many people apply, the government will hold a lucky draw to choose who gets the bikes.

Future Goals
The government hopes to have:

2 million electric bikes on roads by 2030

Plus thousands of electric rickshaws, cars, buses, and trucks

This move will help lower fuel costs, reduce pollution, and support eco-friendly transport in Pakistan.
