Pakistan Flood Alert After India Releases Water

High Flood Alert Issued in Pakistan Following India’s Water Release

Islamabad – Authorities in Pakistan have been alerted to rising flood risks as India issues a high flood warning downstream of the Harike and Ferozepur barrages. The Indian High Commission has formally informed Islamabad about the situation, prompting Pakistan’s Ministry of Water Resources to notify all provincial chief secretaries and relevant departments.

Yesterday, India had also warned about releasing water into the Sutlej River. The floodwaters, which caused significant damage in central Punjab, are now moving through southern Punjab.

Officials say the flood flow is expected to continue toward the Guddu Barrage in Sindh after passing through the Punjnad Headworks. According to Sindh’s Information Department:

Trimmu Barrage: Inflow and outflow at 279,908 cusecs

Punjnad Headworks: Inflow and outflow at 475,129 cusecs

Guddu Barrage: Inflow 502,844 cusecs, outflow 492,443 cusecs

Sukkur Barrage: Inflow 400,405 cusecs, outflow 382,355 cusecs

Kotri Barrage: Inflow 253,145 cusecs, outflow 251,745 cusecs

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, warning residents in low-lying areas to remain vigilant as floodwaters advance downstream.
