There was communication between the establishment and IK

According to Lt-General (R) Naeem Khalid Lodhi, a former secretary of defence, Imran Khan was contacted by the military establishment, but no results were obtained.

In an interview, the retired general stated that he was aware that Imran Khan had been in indirect communication with the military establishment.

He stated that Imran Khan needed to acknowledge that he was the mastermind behind the May 9 assaults, provide an apology, and pledge that he would never carry out another act of this nature in the future.

According to Lodhi, Imran Khan responded by saying he never planned the May 9 attacks, denouncing burning and hooliganism, and promising to make sure those responsible were expelled from the PTI.

Although he is not aware of any communication between the two after the election, General Lodhi stated that he believes such initiatives could be possible.

Lodhi said Imran Khan and the PTI should stop fighting the Pakistan Army and acknowledge its existence.

In the greatest interests of Pakistan, he continued, the military establishment ought to acknowledge the PTI as the country’s most popular political force and open the door for some reconciliation.
