The Pakistani government has declared that beginning on March 7, 2024, the cost of Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) will increase. This implies that the new, higher charge will be required of anybody applying for a passport on or after this date.
The Directorate General of Immigration & Passports (DGI&P) has made it clear that applicants would be responsible for paying the difference in costs if their passport application is filed on or after March 7, 2024, even if they already payed the previous passport fee before then. The passport application won’t be processed until the whole, increased cost is received.
