Pakistan Rallies Leaders for HPV Vaccine Drive

Pakistan Engages Leaders to Boost HPV Vaccination Campaign

ISLAMABAD – The Ministry of Health is set to reach out to political and religious leaders as part of a nationwide push to promote the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.

Officials familiar with the plan said the government aims to persuade these leaders of the importance of the vaccine and encourage them to publicly support the campaign. Political and religious figures may also be asked to share video messages on social media to help raise awareness about its benefits.

A government delegation will hold discussions with prominent scholars from different schools of thought to seek their endorsement for the initiative. Women parliamentarians have already been briefed as part of a broader strategy to ensure wider acceptance of the vaccination drive.

The move comes after Pakistan launched its first-ever national cervical cancer prevention campaign on September 15. The vaccination drive is scheduled to run until September 27, covering Punjab, Sindh, Islamabad, and Azad Kashmir.

Federal and provincial authorities, along with Azad Kashmir, have already been supplied with the necessary HPV vaccines and syringes to carry out the campaign effectively.
