On Friday, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was given permission to question former prime minister Imran Khan in the £190 million settlement case in Adiala jail for a period of four days.
As the team from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Bushra Bibi’s attorney Sardar Latif Khosa, and accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir convened for in-prison proceedings in the £190 million pound case against the former premier and his wife Bushra Bibi, the Adiala jail saw yet another flurry of activity.
The NAB’s investigative officer informed the accountability court during today’s hearing that the chairman had not issued arrest warrants against Bushra Bibi, thus the court also granted her temporary release in the matter until November 21.
Nonetheless, the court ordered the NAB representative to provide an explanation regarding the arrest warrants against the wife of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) president.
In a related incident, the cypher case proceedings were postponed indefinitely due to the stay imposed earlier this week by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The hearing was postponed till November 21 by Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain of the Special Court.
Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, the sisters of Chairman PTI, together with his wife, were present at the hearing. Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the former foreign minister and co-accused of Imran, together with his wife Mehreen Qureshi and daughter Mehrabano Qureshi, were present at the Adiala jail hearing.
FIA Special Prosecutor Zulfiqar Abbasi Naqvi, addressing the media outside the jail, revealed that the court’s decision came following the IHC’s order.
