Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has denounced the “total breakdown of our legal system” and referred to Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), as carrying out a “deal” from London.
The former prime minister, who lost his position in parliament in April of last year, claimed in a statement released on October 24 through his family that it was a “total mockery of the law” and that it was tweeted out from the PTI chief’s official X handle on Friday (today).
“Oh, my Pakistanis! Over the past few days, the law has been completely disregarded. What is taking place is not merely the implementation of a London “plan,” but rather a London “agreement” signed by a dishonest criminal on the run and his enablers, according to a quotation from Khan.
Six days after Nawaz’s return from a four-year self-imposed exile in London on October 21, the statement was made public.
In two graft cases, Nawaz, the three-time prime minister, was granted protected bail, while arrest warrants in a third case were stayed until his arrival, clearing the path for a seamless return.

My Pakistanis!
In the last few days, we have witnessed a total mockery of the law. All that is happening today is not just an execution of a London “plan” but…

“The only way a convicted criminal could be allowed to return to politics with a clean chit is by destroying State institutions,” Khan added, bemoaning the relief accorded to the PML-N leader. Therefore, what we are seeing is the total breakdown of our legal system.
The chairman of the PTI went on, “My Pakistanis! Please keep in mind that every accusation made against me is wholly baseless and politically motivated; they were created solely to ensure that I remain behind bars until after the elections, or possibly much longer. But they’re scared by the rising political consciousness and opposition in my country to closed-room plots.
During his incarceration, Khan also discussed his health, saying, “At the moment, I am physically fit.” I would be able to tell if my physique was changing due to weakness.
Citing past attempts at his life, he asserted that he might be poisoned while incarcerated.
Nonetheless, he urged the populace to carry on their fight and mentioned that the party leadership had received advice to begin running for office.
Nawaz’s efforts to get the sentences he was given in the fraud cases overturned were revived when the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday allowed his appeals against the conviction verdicts in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia cases. This is the latest positive development for Nawaz.
On October 24, the anti-graft agency informed the court that it had no issues with Nawaz’s pleas, and the bail for the three-time ousted prime minister in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia cases was extended until October 26.
Additionally, on the same day, the Punjab government decided to suspend Nawaz’s sentence in the Al-Azizia reference.
The former prime minister was given two sentences: one year for not assisting the anti-graft watchdog and ten years in prison for possessing assets beyond known income in the Avenfield properties corruption reference, which were to be served consecutively.
Nawaz was found guilty of corruption in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills case on December 24, 2018, and was sentenced to seven years in prison. He was then transferred from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail to Kot Lakhpat jail in Lahore the following day.
With approval from the Lahore High Court, the elder Sharif left prison in March 2019 and traveled to London for medical care in November of the same year. In December 2020, the IHC went on to label him a proclaimed offender in both cases.
However, Nawaz’s easy return to the nation was made possible by the protective bail the IHC granted last week in both of the graft cases
