Pakistan, Iran Pledge Stronger Ties Amid Calls for Regional Peace
Islamabad – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong and historic ties with Iran, highlighting the deep bonds shared through history, culture, and faith.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and other federal ministers.
During the discussions, President Pezeshkian of Iran praised Pakistan’s consistent support and expressed Tehran’s determination to expand bilateral cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
Reflecting on the Iranian president’s visit to Pakistan last month, Prime Minister Shehbaz said the trip played a crucial role in strengthening the relationship between the two nations. “The people of Pakistan were delighted to welcome the Iranian president during his recent visit,” he added.
The prime minister also stressed the need to deepen political and economic ties and reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with the people and government of Iran. He underscored that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path toward regional stability and de-escalation.
Expressing his condolences over the recent floods in Pakistan, the Iranian president said Iran’s government and people stand firmly with Pakistan during this challenging time.
