Is Snowfall in Punjab Anticipated During a Cold Wave?

Lows of just a few degrees are being recorded in several regions of Punjab and the surrounding territories. Unverified reports on the internet indicate that Punjab cities may experience unusually heavy snowfall.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has downplayed the predictions of extensive snowfall in Punjab, despite false information spreading on social media.

People have been advised to be cautious of erroneous information on social media by the Meteorological Department. Rather, they stress that there will continue to be a lot of fog in the plains of Punjab and KP, and that icy conditions are predicted in Kashmir, the upper regions of KP, and the Pothohar region, which includes Islamabad.

It is predicted that there will be mild showers and snowfall in GB and Chitral in mid-January. The midday high will not rise above average because of the fog. On cloudy days, travelers are recommended to use caution.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) declared on Friday that predictions of snowfall in Punjab’s plains were unfounded.

According to the PMD, Punjab is anticipated to have cold, dry weather due to steady meteorological conditions.

In a statement, the PMD claimed that false reports on social media about snowfall in Punjab’s plains are unfounded and urged the public to disregard them. According to the Met Department, most of the country should see cold, dry weather, while Punjab’s plains should see extremely chilly temperatures for the next week. According to this, patches of dense fog are also expected to persist across plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh.

According to the met department, frost is also predicted in Kashmir, Islamabad, and the upper regions of KP and the Pothohar region. On January 13, 16, and 17, it called for light rain in Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan. The Met Department stated that the daytime temperature is likely to stay 4 to 6 degrees Celsius below average because of the foggy weather in plain areas.
