Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), submitted two petitions asking for protected bail in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia cases. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) sent letters to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in response.
The three-time prime minister’s motion for protective bail was examined by a two-judge panel presided over by Justice Aamer Farooq and including Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb.
Muhammad Amjad Pervaiz, Nawaz’s attorney, used other rulings to support his assertion that when a proclaimed offender desired to go before the court to request protective bail, the latter gave them the option to do so.
Pervaiz added that Nawaz hadn’t ever’misused’ his bail.
The NAB prosecutor stated that instructions will be given when the appeal is scheduled.
Nawaz has already appealed to the IHC for protected bail, arguing that he wanted to face charges and shouldn’t be detained en route to court.
Nawaz also requested the suspension of the warrant in the Toshakhana case when he filed for protective bail. The permanent warrant should be placed in suspension until October 24 to allow the PML-N supremo to appear before the court, according to the statement that he wanted to surrender before the court.
