Pakistan’s Rice Exports Drop 12% but Basmati Sales Edge Up

From July to May in the 2024–25 financial year, Pakistan’s rice exports dropped by 11.71% compared to the same period last year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

However, Basmati rice exports increased slightly by 1.03%. Around 761,700 metric tons of Basmati rice worth $781.9 million were sold to other countries. Last year, 679,100 metric tons worth $774 million were exported.

Rice Exports Fall Slightly, Basmati Sales Increase

In total, Pakistan earned $2.441 billion by exporting about 4.783 million tons of non-Basmati rice in the past 11 months. This is less than last year, when it earned $2.854 billion for the same.

Overall, the country exported food items worth $6.748 billion during these 11 months, slightly lower than the $6.825 billion exported in the same time last year.
