Pakistan Saudi Sign Historic Defense Pact

Pakistan-Saudi Defense Pact Called “Historic” Amid Rising Regional Tensions

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Senator Mushahid Hussain highlighted three reasons why he views the newly signed Pakistan-Saudi Arabia Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement as historic.

“This Strategic Defense Pact, the first of its kind between two major Muslim nations, is historic and timely for three reasons,” Mushahid said.

He explained that the agreement comes after what he described as the “betrayal” of Arab interests by the United States, pointing to Washington’s silence over Israeli military actions—even against its ally Qatar.

Mushahid also expressed concern over Israel’s expansionist ambitions, which he termed the “Greater Israel” project, affecting nations including Palestine, Qatar, Iran, Lebanon, and Yemen.

Finally, he referenced Pakistan’s military success over India in May 2025, claiming the country demonstrated the “will, skill, and military capability” to deliver a “bloody nose” to what he called the “regional bully.”

Concluding his remarks, Mushahid stated that Pakistan has “quietly displaced the West as the primary guarantor of Middle East security.”

The pact includes a key clause: “Any aggression against either country shall be considered an aggression against both,” signaling stronger military and strategic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as regional tensions grow.
