Chief mining expert confirmed on Wednesday that a coal mine collapsed in the Harnai District area of Balochistan following an explosion, saving eight men while killing twelve others.
The event was previously reported to the Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, who also instructed the authorities to conduct rescue and relief efforts after a mine collapsed in the Zardalo district of Harnai due to a gas explosion.
The chief mines expert said that twelve dead corpses were recovered and that eight workers were saved alive as a consequence of the subsequent rescue operations.
The officer went on to say that when the rescue effort was completed, the mine had been “sealed”.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had earlier expressed sorrow over the deaths caused by the mine collapse in response to the disaster.
The premier gave the go-ahead for the authorities to guarantee quick rescue operations and to offer the required medical services to anyone hurt in the tragedy.
Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq and Deputy Speaker Ghulam Mustafa Shah also sent their sympathies to the family of the deceased in the meanwhile.
Sadiq was cited as stating, “We are with the grieving families,” in a message released by the NA’s official X account.
