Pakistan Supports Global Cooperation on Water at UN

At a high-level meeting at the United Nations General Assembly, Pakistan’s Deputy Representative, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, spoke about the need for better global cooperation on water.

The meeting focused on achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6), which aims to ensure everyone has access to clean water and adequate sanitation.

Ambassador Jadoon said that Pakistan is strongly committed to helping the world work together on water issues. He also said the 2026 Water Conference should be a turning point for faster progress on SDG 6.

He added that countries must follow international laws when it comes to sharing rivers and underground water sources that cross borders.

He warned that using water as a political weapon would harm global efforts to solve water problems. Pakistan, he said, supports fair sharing and careful management of water.

Bilawal Bhutto Warns India Over Water Dispute

Recently, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party, warned India not to break the Indus Waters Treaty. He said if India continues to violate the agreement, Pakistan may respond with war.

“India has two options: follow the Indus Waters Treaty, or face war,” Bilawal said during a speech in the National Assembly.

He also mentioned his visits to different countries, where he said Pakistan had successfully presented its side and promoted a peaceful message.
