The military’s media wing stated that the 7th Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS) Exercise-2024 came to an end at Kharian Garrison on Thursday with an outstanding concluding ceremony.
The principal guest at the occasion was General Syed Asim Munir, the principal of Army Staff (COAS), according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
COAS awarded prizes to the exercise participants on an individual and team basis.
Seven teams from the Pakistan Army and fifteen teams from friendly countries—Bahrain, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Maldives, Morocco, Qatar, United States of America, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Turkiye—participated in the demanding 60-hour “Patrolling Exercise” designed to improve combat skills.
The drill was also observed by observers from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, China, Germany, Indonesia, and Myanmar, underscoring its relevance on a global scale.
The exercise, which took place in Punjab’s semi-mountainous environment from February 25 to 27, has grown to become a prestigious professional military exercise that promotes friendly rivalry and unity among the participating nations.
During the event, the COAS expressed his admiration for the participating teams’ professionalism, mental and physical toughness, and positive attitude throughout the exercise. He emphasized the value of sharing knowledge and working together, as well as the function of PATS as a platform for the advancement of tactical awareness and professional military skills.
Gen. Munir reaffirmed the value of PATS in fostering camaraderie and improving preparedness against changing threats, especially in the war on terror. He praised Pakistani soldiers for their “character, courage, and competence” in the face of terrorism, citing these qualities as highly valued soldierly qualities.
As the ceremony came to an end, the COAS honored participants with individual and team awards in recognition of their exceptional work and commitment.
The professional conduct of the exercise was commended by international observers and defense attachés from participating nations, who also expressed gratitude for its contributions to military interoperability and collaboration.
Commander Mangla Corps welcomed the army chief earlier upon his arrival.
