In December 2023, Pakistan's IT exports rose by 22.67%

Dr. Umar Saif, Pakistan’s acting minister of information technology, gave encouraging news regarding the country’s information and communication technology (ICT) industry. He disclosed that there was an astounding 22.67% surge in the nation’s ICT export remittances in December 2023, totaling $303 million. This remarkable expansion comes after a 13% spike in November 2023.

Dr. Umar Saif credited the implementation of several supportive policies for the growth in ICT exports. These steps include allowing half of the money to be retained, implementing digital payment methods, and starting initiatives to support independent contractors.

Dr. Saif conveyed his appreciation for the Special Investment Facilitation Council and Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar’s contributions to the IT industry. He stressed that the goals of these measures are to support the growth of the IT and telecom industries as well as to bolster Pakistan’s economy as a whole.

Dr. Saif is upbeat about the current state of affairs and thinks the industry will expand significantly as a result of the reforms the caretaker government implemented. Overall, the statement shows the success of recent initiatives and policies and indicates favorable trends in Pakistan’s ICT sector.
