PML-N Finalizes Strategy for Punjab By-Elections
ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has intensified preparations for the upcoming Punjab by-elections, holding a high-level meeting at the party’s central secretariat.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif attended the session, which focused on ticket distribution, candidate selection, and election mobilisation.
Senior party figures, including Rana Sanaullah, Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Asif, Azam Nazeer Tarar, and Pervaiz Rashid, also participated in the discussions.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari revealed that around 15 hopefuls were competing for each party ticket. She added that final decisions on ticket allocations would be made by PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, based on recommendations from the Parliamentary Board.
The meeting also reviewed organisational matters and preparations for the city government elections. Rana Sanaullah reiterated that both federal and Punjab administrations were operating under Nawaz Sharif’s guidance.
With Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) boycotting the by-polls, the PML-N is expected to secure a strong majority in the province.
Earlier, PML-N leader Waseem Qadir claimed he had received votes from supporters of both PML-N and PTI in the recent general elections.
