In the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9 qualifier match at the National Stadium in Karachi, Peshawar Zalmi set a target of 147 runs for Multan Sultans, which was considered lower than expected.
Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Zalmi didn’t have a strong start as they lost their opener, Saim Ayub, scoring just 1 run in the first over. However, their captain, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Haris managed to stabilize the innings by adding 47 runs together for the second wicket. Despite this partnership, Zalmi kept losing wickets at important junctures and finished at 146/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Among the notable contributions, Tom Kohler-Cadmore scored 24 runs, Paul Water and Luke Wood managed 14 runs each, while Rovman Powell made 12 runs. Multan Sultans’ bowlers shared the wickets, with Usama Mir and Chris Jordan taking two wickets each, and David Willey, Mohammad Ali, and Abbas Afridi picking up one wicket each.
