PTA asks Twitter to block handles targeting Pakistan

PTA has asked Twitter’s administration to block all handles running an exploiting campaign against Pakistan and its institutions.

PTA took this action because of some Indian twitter handles who spread false information about Karachi.

Moreover Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has reached out to the twitter’s administration.

So, PTA has asked Twitter to immediately appoint its moderation teams on it.

Whereas to prevent twitter turn into a propaganda tool, spreading false rumors about Pakistan; this step was necessary by PTA.

PTA action against false rumors

According to a statement by PTA, which was release on Thursday;

“The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has approached Twitter administration; but to immediately sensitize its moderation teams; and ensure that the platform is not used as a propaganda tool for spreading fake information.”

Whereas the authority has asked the micro-blogging site to take; “immediate action against accounts spreading false information against Pakistan”.

However social media campaigns can cause huge impact; the content that is published on these platforms are their responsibility.
