Several PTI Leaders Face Arrest After Failing to Appear in Court

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders after they failed to appear in court in a case related to the May 9 violence.

The court order came from ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah in a case registered at the Wah Cantt police station.

The warrants are for:

Sheikh Waqas Akram

Kanwal Shauzab

Sardar Mansoor Saleem

Zubair Khan Niazi

Ajmal Sabir

Aamir Mughal,
and others.

The court directed police to arrest the suspects and bring them to court by August 8, 2025. The prosecution said the accused were hiding to avoid arrest, which led to the court’s decision.

The judge also called the investigation officer and case records to continue the legal process.

PTI Worker Gets Life Sentence in May 9 Case

Earlier today, another anti-terrorism court in Sargodha gave its verdict in a May 9 case involving an attack on the Mianwali Judicial Complex.

Muhammad Ismail, a PTI worker, was sentenced to life in prison.

51 other suspects, including Ahmed Khan Bhachar, Bilal Ijaz, and Ahmed Chattha, were declared proclaimed offenders.

This case, filed under FIR No. 349 at City Police Station Mianwali, is part of a wider action against PTI leaders and workers after violent protests broke out on May 9, following the arrest of the party chairman.

The court has told police to find and arrest all missing suspects within one month.
