PTI demands the military secretary of former Prime Minister Imran Khan be put on trial in the cipher matter

The ex-CJP's Rs. 20 billion defamation lawsuit against Imran Khan was rejected

Omar Ayub Khan, the secretary general of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), demanded on Monday that the military secretary of former prime minister Imran Khan be put on trial in connection with the diplomatic cable case.

Speaking with reporters outside the Parliament House, Ayub and Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, the recently elected chairman of the PTI, said that the military secretary of the then-prime minister was in charge of ensuring the security of the cipher documents.

“If the case is to go forward, it ought to go forward against these individuals [military secretary].”

PTI founder Imran and senior party leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi received 10-year sentences in January 2024 for the cipher case.

The PTI leader spoke at the event and called for a “judicial inquiry” into the Ciphergate affair.

Ayub made a statement against the PPP chairman’s speech in the lower house of parliament, claiming that Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had today used incoherent language. “Bilawal Bhutto is unaware of the cipher’s workings.”

Barrister Gohar, on his part, stated that the party intended to proceed in spite of the issues. The PTI leader attacked the eight-party ruling coalition, claiming that they were “crises” in and of themselves and that they were unable to lead the nation out of these problems.

Earlier today, Asad Qaiser demanded the formation of a judicial panel to look into the scandal in response to the PPP chairman’s comments about the cipher case, which included discussion of the former prime minister.

Qasier took a jab at the Shehbaz Sharif-led party and stated that Imran was sentenced on the cases that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had called “lies”.

The former NA speaker, Qaiser, bemoaned the purported crackdown on party leadership and workers, but emphasized that the PTI founder did not run away in the aftermath of the crackdown and legal troubles, and he will not waver from his beliefs.

He went on, “Neither our leader nor we would compromise,” and demanded the release of the party leadership and the retraction of lawsuits brought against the top leadership, which included Bushra Bibi, Khan’s wife.

Qaiser asked Bilawal, who had called for stakeholders to get together, if the PPP chairman was not aware that the polls on February 8th had seen the worst election cheating in the nation’s history.
