Three PTI Members Disqualified, By-Elections Announced
Three members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party have lost their seats after being found guilty in cases related to the May 9 riots. They are:
Senator Ejaz Chaudhry
Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Malik Ahmad Bhachar
MNA Ahmed Chattha
Malik Ahmad Bhachar was elected from PP-87 (Mianwali), and Ahmed Chattha from NA-66 (Wazirabad). Another National Assembly seat, NA-129 (Lahore), also became vacant after the death of Mian Muhammad Azhar, who had won the seat in the February 2024 elections.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced that polling for these three seats will be held on September 18.

Submit nomination papers: August 4 to 6
Last date to withdraw: August 25
Election symbols given: August 26
Additionally, a Senate by-election will be held on August 21 for the Punjab seat vacated by Senator Ejaz Chaudhry. Voting will happen in the Punjab Assembly from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
