PTI leader shot dead in Swabi as unending violence persists

A local leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen on Thursday in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to police officials.

Shah Khalid was shot and killed by unidentified motorcycle riders in the Swabi Ada region, according to the police. After the incident, the gunmen were able to get away from the crime site.

Police responded quickly to the area after learning of the incident, gathered evidence, and took the deceased to a nearby hospital. In this context, an investigation has also been started.

The event happened the day after a fatal shooting in Tapi village of Miranshah Tehsil, which is located in the North Waziristan area, claimed the lives of three people, including an independent candidate for the provincial assembly.

Masroor, Muhammad Sakhi, and Malik Kaleemullah were named as the victims. The local police have established that Malik Kaleemullah is one of them; he is an independent running from the PK-104 constituency in the upcoming elections.

The incident started when Kaleemullah and his friends were being fired upon and targeted while traveling back to their house.

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) candidate for NA-46, Maulana Rehan Jameel, was injured in a gun attack in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

A police official stated that the incident took place when Maulana Rehan tried to become involved in an abduction case involving Tayyab, a youngster, and Salman, his kidnapper, inside the jurisdiction of the Naseerabad police station.

During the altercation, armed men shot and injured Maulana Rehan Jameel, a member of the JUI general council. After the encounter, the armed attacker was able to get away.

Another JUI-F candidate was spared a bombing on January 3 in Bajaur when a remote-controlled device was used to target his car.

The incident took place in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province’s Mamund tehsil of the Malakand division, with Qari Khairullah, the JUI-F nominee for the PK-19 constituency, being the intended target.

The explosion caused damage to Khairullah’s car, but luckily the JUI-F leader was not hurt.
