PTI to Hold Peaceful Protests on August 5, Says Barrister Gohar
Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will hold peaceful protests across the country on August 5, 2025. The decision comes after recent court rulings related to the May 9 riots.
Speaking to the media, Barrister Gohar said that the party was disappointed by the anti-terrorism court’s verdicts announced yesterday. He also talked about the acquittal of Zain Qureshi, saying there was no political pressure behind it. He explained that Qureshi and others were found not guilty due to a lack of evidence.
Gohar said that PTI’s protests will be peaceful and led by local leaders. He will lead a protest in Buner, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Mahmood Khan Achakzai will lead rallies in their areas.
Life Sentence for PTI Worker in May 9 Case
Earlier today, an anti-terrorism court in Sargodha gave its verdict in the May 9 violence case connected to the Mianwali Judicial Complex attack.
One PTI worker, Muhammad Ismail, was sentenced to life in prison. The case was registered under FIR No. 349 at City Police Station Mianwali.
Meanwhile, 51 other people, including PTI leaders Ahmed Khan Bhachar, Bilal Ijaz, and Ahmed Chattha, were declared proclaimed offenders. The court has ordered police to arrest and present the absconding suspects within one month.
These cases are part of a larger crackdown on PTI after the May 9 protests, which began following the arrest of the party’s chairman.
