Punjab Launches Anti-Smog Guns to Fight Pollution in Lahore
The Punjab Chief Minister has launched a new plan to improve air quality in Lahore. Under this plan, 15 modern Anti-Smog Guns will be used to reduce pollution in the city.
These fog cannons spray fine water mist into the air. The mist captures harmful particles like PM2.5 and PM10, making them fall to the ground. This helps clean the air in busy areas of Lahore.
The Anti-Smog Guns will be placed in key locations across the city. They are connected to Punjab’s air quality monitoring system. The best part is that they will turn on automatically when pollution levels go up. This is possible through satellite data, drones, and smart AI tools.
This step is part of a larger plan to protect the environment. It includes QR-coded brick kilns and support from the Environment Protection Force. Experts say it is one of the strongest pollution control programs in the world.
CM Maryam Nawaz posted on X (Twitter), “This is a big step in our fight against smog. With the help of technology, innovation, and public support, we will win this battle, Insha’Allah.”
In another move to promote clean air, the Punjab Housing Department has declared that all public parks are now smoke-free zones. This was done on the orders of the Secretary of Housing, Noor-ul-Amin Mengal.
According to the official notice, smoking and selling cigarettes are now banned in all public parks under the Prohibition of Smoking Ordinance 2002.
These efforts show that the Punjab government is serious about making the province cleaner and healthier for everyone.
