Punjab Introduces New Academic Calendar for Schools Based on Climate Zones
Punjab’s education authorities have unveiled a new academic calendar aimed at aligning school schedules with the province’s diverse climatic conditions, ensuring both effective learning and the well-being of students.
Under the new policy, the academic year will be divided into two semesters — Spring and Fall — with separate timetables for schools located in summer and winter zones.
Summer Zone:
Schools in the summer zone will now run their academic year from September to August. The first semester will cover September to December, followed by the second semester from January to May. Summer vacations are scheduled from June to August.
Winter Zone:
For schools in the winter zone, the academic year will begin in March and end in December. The first semester will run from March to June, while the second semester will continue from August to December. Winter holidays will take place from December to February.
The move is expected to provide students with a more comfortable learning environment tailored to local weather patterns.
