LAHORE: The new Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police, Inam Ghani, is considered as one of the most professional, seasoned and experienced police officers of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP).
The Federal government has issued a notification appointing Inam Ghani, a grade-21 officer of PSP currently serving as Additional IG South Punjab, to the post of Inspector General of Punjab Police. He replaces outgoing IG Shoaib Dastgir, a grade-22 officer of PSP.
Inam Ghani hails from Malakand district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and has previously held the posts of Additional IG Operations Punjab and CPO.
Ghani belongs to the 17th Common of Police Service of Pakistan and joined the service in 1989 as an ASP. Early in his career, Inam Ghani served at the CSA and the National Police Academy, Islamabad.
He has held the posts of ASP People’s Colony Faisalabad, ASP City Faisalabad, ASP Nawankot, and Lahore. Inam Ghani also served as SSP Operations Peshawar, SP Headquarters Islamabad, and SSP Security Islamabad.
Moreover, he has also held the posts of DPO Haripur, DPO Karak, DPO Swabi, DPO Mansehra, and DPO Charsadda. The new IG has also held key positions in the FIA and IB.
Lastly, he has also served in UN Mission Mozambique, as Officer on Special Duty in the USA and Embassy of Pakistan in Kuwait. Inam Ghani is said to be one of the most professional and experienced officers of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP).
