Rana Sanaullah’s Senate Nomination Approved Amid Political Remarks
Islamabad: Rana Sanaullah, contesting the Senate’s general seat from Punjab, spoke to the media after attending the scrutiny of his nomination papers at the Election Commission’s office.
Sanaullah commented on past political unrest, saying, “PTI’s leadership used to claim that the arrest of their founder was a red line. On May 9, houses were burned and attacked, as videos show, and all involved were PTI workers. The party should have expressed repentance or issued an apology. Perhaps that could have improved the situation.”
He stressed the importance of dialogue in democracy, adding, “Democracy moves forward through conversation, not deadlock. The government will neither bypass anyone nor allow others to do so.”
Responding to a question about the creation of new provinces and the proposed 27th constitutional amendment, the Prime Minister’s aide on political affairs stated that the government is not serious about the proposals.
Earlier, Rana Sanaullah attended the Election Commission office for the scrutiny of his nomination papers for the Punjab general seat in the Senate. His papers were approved by the commission.
The seat had been vacant following the disqualification of PTI’s Ijaz Chaudhry.
