Rachin Ravindra Injured, Sent Home from New Zealand Squad
New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra will miss the ongoing series after sustaining an injury during fielding practice, the national cricket board confirmed on Wednesday. Ravindra reportedly collided with a boundary hoarding, suffering cuts to his upper lip and nose that required intricate stitching.
Head coach Rob Walter expressed the team’s disappointment but emphasized that the player’s health comes first. “We’re all really disappointed for Rachin to be forced to miss the series,” Walter said. “He’s an important player for us, but his well-being is our top priority. The decision was made to send him home to recover, with a view to being ready for the England series in two weeks.”
In Ravindra’s absence, all-rounder Jimmy Neesham has been added to the squad. The series resumes at Bay Oval on Wednesday, with the second game on Friday and the final match on Saturday.
