Robin Wright Jokes About ‘The Princess Bride’ Sequel: ‘We’ll All Be in Wheelchairs’
Veteran actor Robin Wright, who charmed audiences as Buttercup in Rob Reiner’s 1987 classic The Princess Bride, has playfully dismissed any talk of a sequel—joking that the original cast would likely need wheelchairs by now.
In a recent interview, Wright revealed that the cast reunited over Zoom to mark the film’s 30-plus-year anniversary. During the call, some cast members asked if a sequel was in the works.
“Well, a lot of us are going to be in a wheelchair,” Wright quipped. “So no, no, that will never happen.”
Based on William Goldman’s beloved fantasy romance novel, The Princess Bride also stars Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Chris Sarandon, Christopher Guest, Wallace Shawn, Andre the Giant, Peter Falk, and Billy Crystal. Directed by Rob Reiner, the film received critical acclaim upon its release, modest box office returns, and over time became a cult favorite—widely regarded as one of the greatest films of the 1980s and a highlight of Wright’s career.
