SADIQABAD – Five Elite Force policemen were martyred and two others injured in a deadly attack by armed bandits late at night at the Shekhani check-post in Sadiqabad.
According to police, the attackers were members of several dangerous gangs, including Indhar, Lolai, Bakhrani, Meerani, Mohana, Dashti, and Korai. The FIR stated that Tanvir Indhar, the leader of the Indhar gang, and others used rocket launchers and heavy weapons during the assault.
The martyred officers were identified as Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Saleem, and Nakheel from Bahawalnagar, and Muhammad Khalil and Ghazanfar Abbas from Rahim Yar Khan.
During the police response, one bandit named Sona Dashti was killed, while another, Malook Lolai, was injured. The criminals managed to escape, carrying the injured dacoit with them. The police check-post and van were also badly damaged in the attack.
The attackers, including Tanvir Indhar, Gul Hassan Lolai, and Ahmed Shobi, are on the Punjab Home Department’s most wanted list. Each has a bounty of Rs. 10 million on their head.
This attack follows a similar incident on the Kandhkot-Shikarpur Road, where bandits attacked a police post after the killing of a well-known dacoit, Shahzore Kamalani-Jatoi. The criminals kidnapped a policeman and demanded the return of the dead dacoit’s body in exchange for the officer’s release.
