The judgment was passed by the SC during the hearing of a case related to Lakhra Power Plant corruption. The court directed NAB court Karachi to decide about the case within a week.
The SC also directed that all the accountability courts; should hear the corruption-related cases on daily basis, avoiding delay in the under trial references filed in different cases.

The court directs that the references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) would conclude at the earliest.
According to the judgment, the federal government informed the apex court; that the cabinet will give approval of new 120 accountability courts within a week.
The additional attorney general tells the apex court that approval in this regard forwards to the prime minister.
The court further directed the chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB); to proceed with disciplinary action against those officials responsible for delaying the trial of the cases. Likewise, the court directed the anti-graft body to ensure the production of all the witnesses in the cases, besides taking effective measures for strengthening the prosecution.
Speaking to media in Mardan, the speaker NA says that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government given a mandate for accountability of the corrupts and it will never backtrack from it.
He added that the government not in favor to increase the tenure of the NAB chairman.
Replying to a question he added that talks with the opposition are not underway on corruption only, but FATF and 15 other bills.
Yesterday, Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood had said that the government-proposed accountability bill does not carry any details on the extension in the chairman NAB tenure.
“I do not know where the issue [extension in chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) tenure] has come from,”
“Our draft carries a suggestion to give a mandate to the [Federal Board of Revenue] FBR for investigating issues pertaining to the financial irregularities by the business community,” said Shafqat Mahmood while shedding light on the bill’s key points.
