Senate Election: Government candidate Sadiq Sanjarani has re-elected chairman of the Senate;
while the joint candidate of the Pakistan Democratic Party (PDM) has faced defeat in the Senate Election.
A new polling booth was set up in the upper house following the alleged discovery of hidden cameras near the polling booth; in the upper house following concerns from government and opposition members.
Directed to form a committee to investigate the hidden cameras;
At the beginning of the meeting, Presiding Officer Muzaffar Hussain Shah directed to form a committee; to investigate the issue of installation of hidden cameras in the polling booths.
He said that Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar and Senator Musaddiq Malik had requested for the formation of a committee consisting of an equal number of opposition and government members to investigate the matter.
According to the presiding officer; the convener of the committee has also asked to select its members;
And seal the recovered equipment till a final decision has taken on the matter.
Therefore, the Presiding Officer constituted a Senate Committee consisting of 3 members of the Opposition and 3 members of the Government.
Earlier, the special session got off to a noisy start as the opposition; leading by PPP’s Raza Rabbani, claimed that “secret cameras” had installed at the polling booth.
