Shan Masood to Lead Pakistan Against ICC World Test Champions South Africa
Pakistan has announced its squad for the upcoming home series against South Africa, with Shan Masood set to continue as captain. The 18-member squad also features three uncapped players – Asif Afridi, Faisal Akram, and Rohail Nazir – signaling fresh talent in the team.
The series will kick off with the first Test at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium from 12 to 16 October, followed by the second Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from 20 to 24 October. South Africa comes into the series as the reigning ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 champions, promising a competitive contest.
After the Test matches, Pakistan will host three T20Is and an equal number of ODIs from 28 October to 8 November. The squad for the limited-overs games will be announced later.
Ahead of the series, players will participate in a pre-series training camp under red-ball head coach Azhar Mahmood and NCA coaches. The camp will run until 8 October, while those who played in the recently concluded ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup will join the squad from 4 October.
