PM Shehbaz Returns After UNGA Visit, Meets Global Leaders Including Trump
ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif returned home after a high-profile visit where he addressed the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and held key meetings with world leaders.
On his arrival at Nur Khan Airbase, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi welcomed him, praising his successful international engagements. Inspector General Islamabad Syed Nasir Ali and Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa were also present.
During his trip, PM Shehbaz led Pakistan’s delegation at the 193-member UNGA for the third time. In his speech, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to justice, peace, and development, while urging the UN to adopt a stronger and more transparent multilateral system.
He also met UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, leaders of Arab and Islamic countries, and heads of major international financial institutions. Discussions focused on Pakistan’s economic and security challenges and the government’s efforts to address them.
A significant highlight of the visit was his meeting in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump, where he was accompanied by the Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Earlier, President Trump told reporters that both PM Shehbaz and Field Marshal Munir had expressed full support for Washington’s Gaza peace plan, aimed at ending the nearly two-year conflict in the region.
