Sindh Cabinet Reshuffles Key Portfolios Ahead of 2025-26 Budget

Karachi – In a major reshuffle of the Sindh provincial cabinet, several key ministers and special assistants have been reassigned new responsibilities, official sources confirmed.

The Local Government Department will be taken away from Saeed Ghani and handed over to Nasir Hussain Shah. Saeed Ghani, in turn, will now serve as the provincial minister for Labour and Social Protection. As part of this change, Shahid Thaheem will be removed from his position as Labour Minister.

Ismail Rahu has been inducted into the cabinet as the provincial minister for Universities and Boards, while Jam Khan Shoro has been given additional charge of the Planning and Development Department. Sham Sundar is set to be appointed as Special Assistant.

The Food Department, previously overseen by Special Assistant Jabbar Khan, will now be under the supervision of Provincial Minister Makhdoom Mehboob-uz-Zaman. Jabbar Khan will serve as Special Assistant for Relief, and Special Assistant Ali Rashid has been assigned the Information Technology portfolio.

Earlier this month, the Sindh cabinet approved a salary hike for government employees ahead of the 2025-26 budget. Employees in grades 1 to 16 will receive a 12 percent increase, while those in grades 17 to 22 will see a 10 percent raise. The move is aimed at providing financial relief amid rising inflation.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, who also holds the finance portfolio, is scheduled to present the provincial budget in the Sindh Assembly in Karachi at 3 PM.
