Heavy Rainfall and Strong Winds Expected as Low-Pressure System Forms in Arabian Sea

A low-pressure system is developing over the Arabian Sea and is expected to intensify into a depression, bringing heavy rain and strong winds to coastal and nearby regions.

Currently positioned over Gujarat, India, the system is likely to move west-northwest, with meteorologists predicting it could strengthen into a depression within the next 36 hours and move northward toward the coast.

Moist air currents from the northeastern Arabian Sea are reaching southeastern Sindh, leading to rainfall across multiple districts. Areas expected to receive rain until October 2 include Tharparkar (Mithi, Islamkot, Nagarparkar, Chachro, Dhali, Diplo, Kaloi), Umerkot, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Khairpur, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Karachi, Thatta, Badin, and Sujawal.

Isolated heavy downpours are particularly likely in Tharparkar, Umerkot, and Mirpur Khas during this period. Forecasters also warn that the low-pressure area could develop into a tropical depression within 72 hours.

The Meteorological Office has issued warnings that strong winds and lightning could damage weak structures, including rooftops, walls, electric poles, billboards, vehicles, and solar panels. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions.
