Sindh Punjab Schools Holiday Schedule for August 2025

Sindh, Punjab Announce School Holiday Updates for August

KARACHI / LAHORE — Schools in Sindh will remain closed on Chehlum, according to an official notification issued on August 8. The decision, made during a Sub-Committee meeting of the Steering Committee back in November 2024, applies to all institutions under the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department.

Chehlum, observed across Pakistan with processions and gatherings marking the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala, falls this year just after Independence Day on August 14. With the national holiday and the weekend combined, students and teachers in Sindh will enjoy a four-day break from August 14 to August 17.

Sindh schools had resumed classes on July 31 following the summer break.

Meanwhile, in Punjab, the School Education Department has extended summer vacations for both public and private schools. In a notification issued on August 7, the department announced that the holidays will now continue from August 14 until August 31, with schools reopening on Monday, September 1.

The decision, approved by the Competent Authority, updates an earlier order from May 20, 2025, and covers all institutions under the Punjab School Education Department. District Education Authorities have been instructed to ensure strict adherence to the revised schedule.
