Sindh Govt Launches Rs55.8 Billion Wheat Support Program for Farmers

Karachi – Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday chaired a session on the wheat support program aimed at boosting food security and supporting farmers across Sindh.

Speaking at the meeting, CM Shah announced a Rs55.8 billion package for wheat cultivation. Under the scheme, farmers owning up to 25 acres of land will receive one bag of DAP fertilizer and two bags of urea.

He highlighted that Sindh has 411,408 farmers cultivating a total of 2,262,742 acres of land. The government plans to distribute 2,262,746 bags of DAP and 4,525,492 bags of urea to eligible farmers.

The Sindh Minister for Agriculture informed the session that a procurement committee has been notified, and a survey team led by the Director General of Agriculture has also been set up. A dedicated cell will verify farmers’ eligibility, and fertilizers will be distributed only after a proper wheat survey and crop verification.

The Chief Minister directed that the distribution of fertilizers and urea should begin from the second week of November to ensure a bumper wheat crop. He also assured farmers that the government would provide a good support price for their produce.
